SECRET POWERS OF VIDEO

This is a work in progress post. Mainly for myself, but for anyone that cares to listen on insights on the power of video. What I have seen and experience over the 30+ years in media and the industries that found success and failed at using video marketing.
I don't necessarily like the word "marketing," but I will use it for the purpose of the post and frame of reference for those in or using video for marketing. I feel "branding" is a more appropriate description in what I do on a daily basis for many small businesses, entrepreneurs and creatives. I look at the core philosophy of a company, artist etc and put emphasis on bringing it into focus and not mask the undesirable aspects like one does in tradition marketing.
If I were to use the term "marketing" - it would have to be "Truth Marketing." Just showcasing facts about one's business brand. Let the consumer make their own decision to buy into a product, service or brand. Marketing nowadays is more propaganda. Trick you into believe you need the service or product. That is Marketing and advertising is not trustworthy - the term "being sold to" or "salesy" comes to mind. No one likes to be SOLD.
Truth Marketing is show and tell that is it. Just like "show and tell," like we did in elementary school. We told stories about our new toy, summer vacation or the picture we took on a trip - there was no set up to compel someone to do something they would not normally do on their own. There was no deep thought into the behaviors of your classmates.
It was simply showing and telling - in the process they learned something about me and I learned how to communicate ideas to others. That is where the secret lies within the power of video marketing. Sharing your truthful insight and maybe it will reach someone that needs the nugget of information to help them achieve success or resolve their problem at hand.
